Top 10 disruptive tech companies to watch out for

New technology is continuously being created, from the products we use in our day-to-day lives to platforms and organisations that pioneer true innovation. 2023 has been an incredible year for technology, and we wanted to highlight the top 10 disruptive tech companies that you should be watching out for in 2024.

1. Canva

Launched in 2012, Canva has quickly established itself as a household name over the past decade. Now valued at $40 billion, the Australian company has enabled graphic design to become accessible to even those with the most basic understanding of design.

Canva has broadened its service offering over the past couple of years, with additional features for “free” and “premium” users, as well as starter packs for businesses to get them started with incredible visuals. This has positioned Canva as an incredible player among the likes of Adobe, Microsoft, and Google.

2. OpenAI

OpenAI has completely disrupted the world of tech. Mother to ChatGPT and a host of other AI developments, OpenAI started as a not-for-profit in 2015 with huge backers such as Elon Musk and Microsoft. This year, Microsoft has pumped billions of dollars into OpenAI - we’re interested to see how OpenAI continues to disrupt the tech market in 2024.

3. Airtable

Airtable, much like ChatGPT has disrupted the world of coding and Software Development. Now with integration to ChatGPT, code can be written in two minutes as opposed to 20 hours. Airtable is a cloud collaboration service that enables people to create customised workspaces for their teams.

Unlike standardised online workspaces which may be visually appealing, but lack the key personalised features that a team needs - Airtable blows this out of the water completely. Airtable is currently valued at $11 billion.

4. Monarch Tractor

Launched in 2018, and currently valued at $271 million, Monarch Tractor marries sustainability and agriculture like never before. Autonomous field EVs replace the need for fuelled tractors, providing valuable decarbonization. Agriculture has been a difficult industry to disrupt thus far, so it’ll be interesting to see how Monarch Tractor continues to evolve.

5. Spring Health

Spring Health is a platform that looks specifically at mental health and is a comprehensive solution for employers looking to give more support to their employees. Currently valued at $2.5 billion, Spring Health is recognised and used by well-known organisations such as DocuSign and DuoLingo. They offer multiple service lines, from coaching and family care to helping with substance abuse.

6. Vanta

“Vanta simplifies and centralizes security program management for over 5,000 companies, including Autodesk, Gusto, Modern Treasury and Quora, by providing full visibility into an organization’s cyber vulnerabilities.”

They have raised over $150 million in funding, and are currently valued at $1.6 billion. Cybersecurity is at the forefront of nearly every organisation’s priority. Data compromises and the general security of intellectual property are paramount, and Vanta is a leader within the space.

7. Discord

Launched in 2015, Discord was dominated mostly by the gaming demographic. Since then, it has erupted and become a popular hotspot for more than just gamers. With 150 million users, it has become the go-to place for knowledge sharing across a variety of topics and sectors.

Most who know Discord or have heard it in conversation, know its association with crypto. Despite encountering issues over the years with safety and online abuse, Discord has invested heavily in AI technology to combat this and make it a safe place for all of its users.

8. Orca Security

Orca Security is an incredible organisation that is tackling the global need for high-quality cybersecurity. Founded in 2019, and currently valued at $1.8 billion, this organisation is already making huge movements. They were awarded global security partner of the year in 2022 by AWS, and continue to be a key player even within a competitive market.

9. Notion

Notion is a streamlined project management tool designed to integrate multiple platforms and communication mediums (Asana, Slack, GitHub). We live in a world where working with 10+ tabs open is considered the norm, and Notion aims to cut through the noise and be a centralized place for employees to work in peace.

Launched in 2012, Notion has grown exponentially in the past few years. Currently valued at $10 billion, it’ll be interesting to see how Notion continues to develop, especially with its AI adoption within the platform.

10. BeeHero

Launched in 2017, BeeHero is an innovative organisation that looks to decrease crop risk tied to bees and increase crop yields. Bees are integral to agriculture, and a lack of bees (or they becoming endangered) can cause detrimental effects on the rest of the food chain. They use AI and ML, to track pollination and monitor crops such as nuts, seeds, and berries.

BeeHero is a unique and courageous organisation who are truly revolutionising how we look at agriculture, particularly in a world that is already overpopulated and dealing with agricultural and environmental issues.
